Preserving Our Past, One Page at a Time

The Jackson County Public Library, in proud partnership with the Kentucky Historical Society, is excited to introduce our new Digital Newspaper Archive, offering public access to The Jackson County Sun from 1920 to 2009. This project is part of a statewide initiative to preserve Kentucky’s local history in preparation for the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

This comprehensive collection allows users to explore over nine decades of Jackson County history, featuring local news, obituaries, advertisements, photos, and firsthand accounts that shaped our community. Whether you're a genealogist, student, historian, or lifelong resident, this archive opens a window into the everyday lives, major events, and evolving culture of Jackson County.
